*THE TRAINING

This Program is for those professionals who have already completed the two courses of the basic training in Body Centered Psychotherapy. The advanced training consists of two consecutive courses that run parallel to the basic trainin.

Advanced Clinical Training I:

                        Defense Styles and Character Analyses

This course aims at a deepening of the understanding of unresolved developmental issues and their impact on mental health. Ways of working with these issues from a Body Cemntered perspective are explored and taught.

Advanced Clinical Training II

           Trauma, Dissociative Disorders, Sexuality and Addiction

This course focuses on working with Trauma Sexuality and Addiction. Neurobiological research as well as attachment theory as they pertain to the material covered in this program are presented and their relevance discussed.

Students attending this Program will  gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the body-mind connection as well as learning how to work with it.

* PROGRAM GOALS:
 

           Students of the Advanced Clinical Training will :

  • Learn the use of specific techniques in working with certain characterological issues and problems.
  • Learn “hands on” bodywork and explore issues relating to touch specific to each character style.
  • Discuss and explore case presentations of each character style.
  • Deepen their understanding of the body mind connection.
  • Learn about neurobiological research of brain development and attachment theory as it pertains to the development of defense styles and mental health problems.
  • Study trauma and dissociation and learn about working with trauma victims.
  • Deepen their understanding of the process of addiction as well as its treatment.
  • Explore issues relating to human sexuality as they are relevant to the practice of therapy.
  • Enhance and develop their personal style as a therapist.
  • To learn the use of specific techniques in working with certain characterological issues and problems.
  • To deepen and fine tune therapeutic skills using body centered Psychotherapy.
  • To deepen your understanding of character structures and how to work with them in a body-centered style.
  • To have an opportunity to practice with other clinicians body-centered skills under supervision.
  • To learn more about your counter transference and how to use it in the therapeutic process.
  • To use your own creativity to promote the purpose of therapy.
  • To enhance and develop your personal - style as a therapist.

* WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

This Training Program Will be available to those with a degree in a helping profession i.e. mental health counselors, substance abuse counselors, social workers, psychotherapists, physicians, psychologists, chiropractors, nurses, massage therapists, etc. and who have completed the two year program or an equivalent program in body-centered training.

The Training consists of two consecutive courses each running parallel to the courses of the “basic training program” ( each six weekend sessions over a 7 month period from October to April).

Students attend the training programs Friday night lecture together with the students from the basic training course. Saturday and Sunday morning students attend in-depth lectures, study case presentations, experience and learn to apply advanced bodywork and practice under supervision of the trainers.

Each weekend then is structured as follows:

FRIDAY EVENING 6:30 PM- 8:30pm:

        THEORY

SATURDAY              9:00am - 4:00pm:

         INTEGRATION OF THEORY AND 

     PRACTICE    

SUNDAY                    9:00am - 1:00pm:

       PRACTICING UNDER SUPERVISION

Upon acceptance, after Interview and review of CV, a nonrefundable deposit of $50.00 is required to reserve a place in the program

For the remaining tuition, a payment schedule is worked out at the time of enrolment.

CERTIFICATE: Every Participant, who completes the 2 year program, receives one.

Up to 72 contact hours per course.

The Connecticut Center for Human Growth & Development is recognized by the National Board for Cert. Counselors to offer Continuing Education for National Cert. Counselors. We adhere to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines.

Social Workers:

This program is approved for 72 Category I Credits per training year by the

NASW/RI Chapter
