THE TRAINING

This Program is for professionals who either have  completed the two year basic training in Body Centered Psychotherapy or have comparable level of experience or training in body oriented therapies. The advanced training consists of two consecutive courses that run parallel to the BASIC TRAINING PROGRAM.Each course is spread out over 6 monthly weekend sessions from October to April.
 
​Although the curricular of these two courses are complementary and conceptualized as two components of the whole of the Advanced Clinical Training, attendants are not required to commit to participate in both training courses at the time of enrollment. Each course can be taken separately.

Advanced Clinical Training Course I:
Defense Styles and Character Analyses

This course aims at a deepening of the understanding of unresolved developmental issues and their impact on mental health. Ways of working with these issues from a Body Centered perspective are explored and taught. Click here for further information

Advanced Clinical Training Course II 
Trauma, Dissociation, Sexuality and Addiction

This course focuses on working with Trauma Sexuality and Addiction. Neurobiological research as well as Attachment Theory as they pertain to the material covered in this program are presented and their relevance discussed. Students attending this Program will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the body-mind connection as well as learning how to work with it. Click here for further information

PROGRAM GOALS:
 
Students of the Advanced Clinical Training will :
  • Learn the use of specific techniques in working with certain characterological issues and problems.
  • Learn “hands on” bodywork and explore issues relating to touch specific to each character style.
  • Discuss and explore case presentations of each character style.
  • Deepen their understanding of the body mind connection.
  • Learn about neurobiological research of brain development and attachment theory as it pertains to the development of defense styles and mental health problems.
  • Study trauma and dissociation and learn about working with trauma victims.
  • Deepen their understanding of the process of addiction as well as its treatment.
  • Explore issues relating to human sexuality as they are relevant to the practice of therapy.
  • Enhance and develop their personal style as a therapist.
  • To learn the use of specific techniques in working with certain characterological issues and problems.
  • To deepen and fine tune therapeutic skills using body centered Psychotherapy.
  • To deepen your understanding of character structures and how to work with them in a body-centered style.
  • To have an opportunity to practice with other clinicians body-centered skills under supervision.
  • To learn more about your counter transference and how to use it in the therapeutic process.
  • To use your own creativity to promote the purpose of therapy.
  • To enhance and develop your personal - style as a therapist.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

This Training Program will be available to those with a master's or higher degree in a helping profession i.e.:
Mental Health Counselors, Substance Abuse Counselors, Social Workers, Psychotherapists, Physicians, Psychologists, Physical Therapists etc.

The Advance Clinical Training  is especially recommended to and for anybody who has completed the two year Basic Training Program or an equivalent program in body-centered psychotherapy training.

FORMAT

The Training consists of two consecutive courses each running parallel to the courses of the “basic training program” (each are six weekend sessions over a 7 month period from October to April).

Students attend the training programs Friday night lecture together with the students from the basic training course. For students who completed the two year Basic Training Program of the Connecticut Center the attendance of the Friday night lecture is optional. Saturday and Sunday morning students attend in-depth lectures, study case presentations, experience and learn to apply advanced bodywork and practice under supervision of the trainers.

Each weekend is structured as follows:

FRIDAY EVENING 
     6:30 PM- 8:30pm: THEORY (Optional for Students who completed the Basic                                              Training Program)

SATURDAY
      9:00am - 4:00pm: INTEGRATION OF THEORY AND PRACTICE    

SUNDAY
      9:00am - 1:00pm: PRACTICING UNDER SUPERVISION           
ENROLLMENT INFO:

  • TUITION: $1200 per year ($1000 for those students who completed the Basic Training with the Connecticut Center and who wish not to attend the Friday night lecture again).
  • PLACE: CONNECTICUT CENTER FOR HUMAN GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT
  • CERTIFICATE of COMPLETION: Upon successful completion and attendance of at least 60 training hours and submission of the evaluation forms given at the end of each course, a Certificate of Attendance and Completion is given to every Participant at the end of each training year.
  • A Confirmation of Attendance, stating the number of CE hours attended, is given to any Student who wishes to disenroll before the completion of either of the two Courses. Minimum to earn any CE Credits is the attendance of at least one full weekend (12 Contact hours).

MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELORS:  

The Connecticut Center for Human Growth and Development has been approved by the NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5664. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The Conn. Center is solely responsible for all aspects of its programs. 


​This Program provides a total 72 CE hours per Course.

  • Upon acceptance, after Interview and review of CV, a non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to reserve a place in the  program.
  • For the remaining tuition, an individual payment schedule can be worked out.
